
On 6 March, Bioenergy Europe organised a breakfast round table at the European Parliament on Slashing Emissions from Residential Wood Heating. Around the table, several Parliament and Commission representatives along with industry experts attended to discuss the way ahead for the implementation of measures to drastically reduce emissions from residential wood heating appliances. MEPs Julie Girling and Sean Kelly hosted the breakfast.
The round table was an opportunity to present Bioenergy Europe’s latest fact-sheet on biomass emissions. The fact-sheet presents four recommendations to effectively decrease emissions from individual wood heating appliances:
- Replacing the old stock of appliances
- Controlling fuel quality
- Proper installation & maintenance
- Educating users & raising awareness
